JOHN KEMBOI AND TERA MOODY LEAD LARGEST FIELD IN EVENT HISTORY TO WIN 31ST ANNUAL SHAMROCK SHUFFLE
Kenyan John Kemboi, 19, and American Tera Moody, 29, outran the largest field in Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K history today posting wins in the 31st edition of the iconic Chicago road race. An event-record field of 25,561 runners followed the champions across the finish line to officially welcome the arrival of spring to Chicago amid 35-degree weather.

BANK OF AMERICA LAUNCHES LOCAL YOUTH FITNESS INITIATIVE THROUGH TWO PREMIER RUNNING EVENTS

Bank of America today announced it will match funds generated through its world-renowned Chicago-based running events – Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and Bank of America Chicago Marathon – to launch a local youth fitness initiative in its continued support of after-school programs. In an event held today at Navy Pier, David Sontag, regional managing director, Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Management, announced a total donation of $324,000 will be split among four local organizations: ChicagoRun, Girls on the Run, MGR Foundation and Special Children’s Charities/Special Olympics Chicago.

Registration for the 31st annual Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K officially closed today when the participant capacity of 36,000 was reached. Registration for the March 21 event opened to the public on January 1.

13,714 RUNNERS BRAVE THE ELEMENTS TO TACKLE 30TH ANNIVERSARY SHAMROCK SHUFFLE 8K, INCLUDING CHAMPIONS DEENA KASTOR AND EMMANUEL KORIR
U.S. Olympian Deena Kastor (Calif.) and Emmanuel Korir (Mich.) led a field of 13,714 runners through the snow today at the 30th Anniversary Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. The race continued its storied tradition by ushering in the spring season in true Chicago fashion with temperatures in the low 30s and steady snowfall throughout the morning.

On Sunday, March 29, 32,500 runners and walkers will line up to participate in the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle. U.S. OLYMPIAN DEENA KASTOR RETURNS TO THE ROAD AT 30TH ANNIVERSARY SHAMROCK SHUFFLE
After injury forced her to drop from the 2008 Beijing Olympic Marathon field mid-race, decorated U.S. runner Deena Kastor will make her return to road racing on Sunday, March 29 at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. In so doing, Kastor, 36, will return to the site where she set the current American women’s 8K record in 2005 (24:36).

REGISTRATION FOR THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY BANK OF AMERICA SHAMROCK SHUFFLE WILL OPEN ON JANUARY 1
Registration for the 30th Anniversary Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle will open on Thursday, January 1 for the Sunday, March 29, 2009 event. The annual kick-off to the Chicago spring running season will feature its popular 8K Run through downtown Chicago and 5K Fitness Walk along the lakeshore and Museum Campus. The fee to enter either the 8K Run or 5K Fitness Walk is $40 per person and registration will close when the 32,500 participant capacity is met (combined for both events).

BANK OF AMERICA SHAMROCK SHUFFLE CELEBRATES OPENING OF RUNNING SEASON WITH 22,600 RUNNERS
Bank of America celebrated the official opening of Chicago’s outdoor running season today with the 29th annual Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle. More than 22,600 runners completed the 8K urban race course and approximately 2,000 walkers took a 5K stroll along the shores of Lake Michigan. Cheering them on in Grant Park and along the race route were 65,000 fans and spectators.

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle reached its participant capacity today, nearly two months in advance of the 29th annual event. Since opening registration to the public on January 1, 30,000 people have signed on to complete the 8K race or 5K fitness walk on Sunday, March 30.
