Registration

When is the 2018 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K?
The 2018 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K run and 2 mile walk will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018.

In the event that the event sells out, can I sign up for a waiting list?
No. There is no waiting list for the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K.

I am injured and/or cannot run the event (family commitment, work obligation, etc.). Can I get a refund, donate my entry or transfer my entry to someone else?
No. Per our official event rules: Sale and/or transfer of race entries/bib numbers is strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification and/or banning of any individuals involved from future events. All entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be deferred toward a future event.

Is the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K walker-friendly?
Yes, however all participants must complete the course in the event time requirement (1 hour 15 minutes). If you don’t want to sign up for the run, you can join the 2 mile untimed walk.

Packet pick-up

Do I have to pick up my participant packet, participant bag and T-shirt at McCormick Place in advance of the race?
Yes. Participants must pick up their event-issued bib number, timing device (as applicable), event T-shirt and participant bag Friday and Saturday of race weekend at McCormick Place. If you cannot pick up your packet in person, a family member or friend may pick up your packet and T-shirt for you, provided that they have a copy of your packet pick-up email.

Can I have my participant packet mailed to me?
Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle participants will have the opportunity to get their packet mailed to them in advance of race weekend. The packet mailing option includes the shipment of your event bib number, participant t-shirt and 2018 premium item. This opportunity will be available to the first 5,000 people who purchase this option.

*Please note, there is an additional $15 charge for packet mailing.

Can I pick up my participant packet, participant bag and t-shirt on the day of the race?
There is no race day participant packet and bag pick-up. Participants must pick up their bib numbers with timing device (as applicable), participant bags and T-shirts Friday and Saturday of race weekend at McCormick Place.

Start and finish area

Where is the start of the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle?
The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K run and 2 mile walk starts and finishes in Chicago’s Grant Park. The start line is located at Columbus Drive and Monroe Street, but participants must enter their assigned start corrals at designated areas within Grant Park.

When does the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K run start?
The 2018 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K will feature two start waves to facilitate a smooth and efficient start to the race. Wave 1 will start at 8:30 a.m. followed by the start of Wave 2 at 9 a.m.

When does the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 2 mile walk start?
The 2018 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 2 mile walk will start immediately following the start of the 8K run at 9:30 a.m.

What’s the best way to get to Grant Park on race day?
Public transportation is highly recommended for race day transportation to Grant Park. Visit transitchicago.com or metrarail.com to plan your route.

If I am driving to the start, where can I park my car?
Public transportation is highly recommended for race day transportation to Grant Park. If you drive, allow sufficient time for traffic congestion and street closures due to the race

Are food and beverages available at the end of the race?
Yes. The Mariano’s Runner Refreshment Area at the finish line will provide participants with post-race food and beverages. Participants and guests can also purchase additional food and beverages at the Post-Race Party.

Where can I see my results?
Race results will be posted online at shamrockshuffle.com and emailed to all participants via the e-mail address provided at the time of race registration. Any questions regarding results should be sent via e-mail to results@shamrockshuffle.com or discussed via phone at 312.904.9814.

What streets will be affected by course closures on race day?
The morning and afternoon of the event, the streets that comprise the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K course, as well as the start/finish area in Grant Park, will be closed to vehicular traffic. Detailed street closure information will be available in advance of race day.

How many aid stations are on the course?
There are two course aid stations, located at approximately Miles 2 and 4 for the 8K run. The 2 mile walk will have one on-course aid station.

What flavor Gatorade do you offer on the course?
Gatorade® Endurance Formula (lemon-lime) will be available on-course for the 8K run.

How long is the course open?
Participants must be capable of maintaining a 15:00/mile pace for the 8K run and a 30:00/mile pace for the 2 mile walk. Completing the full event distance, start line to finish line, within the event time requirement of 1 hour and 15 minutes (h:mm:ss/1:15:59) for the 8K run and 1 hour (hh:mm:ss/1:00:59) for the 2 mile walk.

Participants who finish outside of the time requirement may not receive full on-course support from aid stations and traffic safety personnel. Runners who finish outside of the time requirement may not be recorded as official finishers.

Can I run with an iPod/headphones?
Yes. USA Track & Field amended the ban on headphones, iPods, etc., for general race participants. However, athletes competing for prize money may not use electronic devices such as headphones.

What is NOT allowed on the course?
Dogs, baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, unauthorized bicycles or any other wheeled devices are not allowed on the race course.

Do you offer pace teams for the 8K race?
No. We do not offer pace teams.

Post-Race Party

Is there a Post-Race Party following the Shamrock Shuffle?
Yes. The Post-Race Party follows the conclusion of the race in Grant Park, and features live music, food and beverages. The Post-Race Party is free and open to the public.

Event Alert System (EAS)

What is the Event Alert System (EAS)?
The Event Alert System (EAS) is a color-coded system that communicates the status of course conditions to participants leading up to and on race day. The levels range from Low (green) to Moderate (yellow) to High (red) to Extreme (black) based on a variety of factors, primarily weather conditions.
